I wasn't sure at first, but first off, the instructions could have used more detail.

whoever designed these must not have actually tried to install them. I wasn't sure at first, but first off, the instructions could have used more detail. the plastic components that cover the metal brackets are too narrow to fit your hand, so getting the mounting bolts started is a real treat. the mounting bolts themselves should be about 1/2" longer. with the lock & flat washer on, it was nearly impossible to get the bolt started. after struggling with them for a couple hours, i went to the store and bought bolts 1/2" longer. after that installing went pretty quickly, but i did need to use my dremel rotary tool to cut out parts of the inside "fins" of the plastic components as the way they are designed, they prevent getting a socket onto the bolt. overall product looks fine once installed, but i wish i would've gone with a different running board due to the frustration of installing. - does exactly what it says.
