really not bad and i even jumped up and down on the steps to test them out to make sure (a little extra i know) but they hold up mighty! the install process is fairly fast about an hour each on both sides however the covers for the mounting brackets make it a little difficult to angle your wrench or line up the bolt so a work around i found with that is use a pair of pliers or wire cutter or something like that and basically break or cut the little plastic angles inside the covers (this makes it 10 times easier to angle the bolt and your wrench to tighten). To be honest, i like the quality of these steps for the price. i also had a moment where i only installed 3 of the 4 brackets due to time constraints and i accidentally misplaced one of the mounting brackets that was uninstalled. i contacted customer service and explained the situation and they immediately sent me a set of brackets, covers, screws and the sliders that go underneath the step for free! i thought that was really mighty considering a regular set of mounting brackets goes for a lot online. so i definitely recommend this product. - would recommend to anyone.

the plastic covers are designed to be sandwiched between the body and the bracket, also between the inner edge of the step and the bottom step mount. I wasn't sure at first, but i returned mine after mounting the first one and seeing some engineering issues that made it not function well. this keeps it from being a enjoyable solid rigid connection which it needs because the step is totally open on the bottom and needs the bracket mounting points to stiffen it up.

if it is modified for the plastic to not be under the fasteners, then you can probably do away with the shim that is put to the outside of the step as i think it was just added to make up for the plastic shimming the inside of the step. the key to this is that may make the other issue okay which was that the mounts on the underside of the step would get stretched out to fill the gap.

thinking more, it probably was a functional design at first, but then the plastic covers were added, but the securing of them was not engineered properly, so it made the entire step not rigid anymore. and it exceeded expectations.

then after finally installing it i put a little pressure (i weigh 250lbs it says rated for 450lbs) on it and it instantly bowed and now it,s crooked and it fits ideally.. Absolutely ideal for the plastic covers are pretty difficult to put on, i ended up having to cut a slot just to be able to screw it in

I was pleasantly surprised by arrived on time, easy install, ordered what was described, - no complaints here!
